Jose Mourinho expects to be Chelsea manager by the end of the week
Former Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho says he expects to seal a return to Chelsea by the end of the week
Jose Mourinho says he expects to seal his much-anticipated return to Chelsea by the end of the week.
The 50-year-old has been heavily linked with the Blues position after interim Rafael Benítez left the west London side and the Portuguese coach confirmed he would quit Real Madrid following their final La Liga game.
Mourinho signed off at Los Blancos with a 4-2 victory over Osasuna at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday.
And the former Inter Milan boss claimed that he would be confirmed as the new Blues manager in the coming week.
“I’m going to London on Monday and I think that between Monday and the end of the week I will be the Chelsea manager,” Mourinho said on Spanish football programme Punto Pelota.
Mourinho, who won two Premier League titles during his previous reign at Stamford Bridge, endured a disappointing season at Madrid as he fell out with his players, superiors and struggled to match Barcelona in La Liga.
And the two-time Champions League winner is looking forward to returning a club where he feels loved after a decorated three-year reign at the Blues before he left the London outfit in 2007.
“I feel the people there love me and in life you have to look for that,” he added.
“Life is beautiful and short and you must look for what you think is best for you.”
