Jose Mourinho happy to have me at Chelsea, says Ramires
Chelsea midfielder Ramires reveals Blues manager Jose Mourinho has reassured the Brazilian that he's wanted at Stamford Bridge
Ramires has revealed Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has reassured the Brazilian that the midfielder is part of his plans for the Blues.
The 26-year-old is currently on international duty at the Confederations Cup but has spoken to Rafael Benítez’s successor after Mourinho signed a four-year deal at Stamford Bridge earlier this month.
And the former Benfica midfielder feels the Blues are set for a silverware-laden season under the 50-year-old manager, who previously led the west London side to two Premier League titles.
“I’m hugely excited about getting down to work with Mourinho,” Ramires said. “He called me a few days ago, out of the blue, which was a surprise to me.
“We talked a lot and he said a lot of nice things to me, including the fact that he tried to sign me from Benfica when he was at both Inter Milan and Real Madrid.
“Mourinho told me he was very happy to have me at Chelsea. I was very glad to hear that and told him he can count on me.
“I said, ‘I’ll do everything in my power to help you be victorious in this new spell at the club’.
“He spoke of his excitement too and knowing how much he wanted to work with me, made me even more motivated for next year. I have a feeling that it will be a very good season for us.”
Ramires has scored 23 goals and made 14 assists in 150 appearances for the Blues after completing a €22m (£19m) move to the Stamford Bridge outfit from Benfica in 2010.
