Jose Mourinho hints that he plans to give some of Chelsea's youngsters the chance to impress at Stamford Bridge next season
Jose Mourinho has hinted that he plans to give some of Chelsea’s youngsters the chance to impress at Stamford Bridge next season.
The likes of Romelu Lukaku (20) and Kevin De Bruyne (21) have been linked with further temporary spells away from Stamford Bridge after spending the 2012-13 campaign on loan.
But Mourinho, who has signed a four-year deal to become Blues boss for the second time, believes that there comes a time when a club’s promising youngsters must be given an opportunity to prove themselves.
“I think you need stability for identity and I think identity is becoming more important in football,” said Mourinho. “You need stability if you want to go in this profile direction.
“If Chelsea in past years bought lots of young players, young players need to be developed.
“At a certain point that development and evolution can be by being on loan and can be as a natural evolution, but another thing is the evolution and development inside your club, and for that you need stability in methods, philosophy and principles.”
