Juan Mata is convinced that Chelsea will challenge for the Premier League title under Jose Mourinho next season.

The Blues, who finished third last season, have not lifted the top-flight trophy since their triumph in the 2009-10 campaign.

The Premier League is the only major trophy to evade the 25-year-old following his transfer to Stamford Bridge from Valencia back in August 2011.

And the Spain international is backing the Blues to be serious contenders next season following Mourinho’s return to west London on a four-year contract.

“Winning the Champions League, FA Cup and Europa League was great, but I really want to win the Premier League title next season,” Mata told Chelsea’s website.

“If we start well I think we can do it. We have a great squad and fantastic supporters behind us, so hopefully we can do it.

“For me it would be amazing to win four trophies in three seasons. It would be a very special feeling to win the Premier League title and I’m looking forward to hopefully doing so.

“I think we have the squad – we have enough class to do it.”
