Raheem Sterling has heaped praise on Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers for the Northern Irishman’s excellent man management.

The Reds boss placed his faith in youth at the start of the season as the likes of Sterling, Suso and Andre Wisdom enjoyed a run in the first team.

The England international struggled to maintain his form throughout the whole campaign as the winger suffered from fatigue and injuries.

Despite being left frustrated by a disappointing end of the season, Sterling revealed Rodgers still devoted his time to the Jamaican-born star and his other youngsters.

“I can’t talk any more highly of him as a person, not just as a manager,” Sterling said of Rodgers.

“He’s a top guy. He’s one of those who isn’t only interested if you’re playing well at that moment. He looks at players who are not playing or young players.

“Liverpool should be really grateful they’ve got a manager like that.”

Sterling scored two goals in 19 Premier League starts last season after completing a £600,000 move to Anfield from Queens Park Rangers in 2011.
