Liverpool transfers: Brendan Rodgers reveals his plans for the summer as he looks to bolster his squad ahead of next term
Brendan Rodgers has revealed his transfer plans for the summer, with the Liverpool boss looking to bolster his squad in a number of areas.
The Reds have already snapped up Kolo Toure from Manchester City on a free transfer following Jamie Carragher’s retirement.
But Rodgers is keen to sign an attacking midfielder as well as another forward, as speculation linking Luis Suárez with a move away from Anfield continues.
“I haven’t got an exact number of players I want to bring in, but naturally we need some centre-halves and I’m looking to bring 20 more goals into the team,” said Rodgers.
“So I’m also looking at another offensive player to give us a real threat on goal and another attacking midfield player. We definitely need to do that, especially if we’re going to put some young ones out on loan to gain experience.
“But it’s not easy when you can’t make mistakes. We want to keep the acceleration and pushing on so this is a very important window for us in the summer.
“We have to do our best to make it right because the players who need to come in have to be effective right from the off.”
Liverpool are thought to be on the verge of signing Iago Aspas from Celta Vigo for £7m.
