Liverpool transfers: Shakhtar deny Reds bid for Henrik Mkhitaryan
Liverpool transfers: Shakhtar Donetsk say that there has not been any official enquiry from Reds for Henrikh Mkhitaryan
Shakhtar Donetsk chief executive Sergei Palkin insists that there has not been any official enquiry from Liverpool for Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
The Merseyside club are thought to be keen to snap up the Armenian midfielder, who has a £20m release clause in his contract with the Ukrainian side.
However, Palkin says that there is no truth in the reports suggesting that the Reds are already in talks with his club over the possible transfer of the 24-year-old.
“As you know, there have been too many different conversations about Henrik Mkhitaryan, but the situation has been strongly and artificially inflated,” Palkin told Russian newspaper Izvestia.
“I can say that we have had no communication from any member of Liverpool.
“Henrikh is an important player in our team. Shakhtar want to keep him but we are willing to listen and consider all proposals for his transfer.”
Mkhitaryan scored 25 league goals for Shakhtar last season and has netted 11 times in 38 appearances for Armenia.
