Liverpool chief Ian Ayre insists the Reds will continue to move quickly in the transfer market this summer after confirming the signing of Luis Alberto from Sevilla.

The 20-year-old finally sealed a much-anticipated move to Anfield for a reported £7m on a long-term contract on Saturday.

News of Alberto’s arrivals comes after the Reds agreed deals to sign Kolo Toure from Manchester City and Iago Aspas from Celta Vigo.

And Liverpool managing director Ayre has been quick to praise the backroom staff – and manager Brendan Rodgers – for their work in securing the signings so swiftly.

“I think the praise goes to all those people in the background who do all the hard work on scouting and analysis – and also the manager himself,” Ayre told Liveprool’s website.

“If we identify people early and we identify the positions early, then we can do the work early. And throughout this year we have done that; in the January window and in the summer.

“That will be our game for the future – to be more prepared and execute well. And I think today is a great example of that.”

Liverpool are understood to have agreed a fee with Sunderland for the transfer of goalkeeper Simon Mignolet.
