Liverpool transfers: Luis Alberto thrilled to seal ‘dream’ move to Reds
Liverpool transfers: Luis Alberto says he is the happiest man in the world after sealing "dream" move to 18-time English champions
Luis Alberto says he is the “happiest man on earth” after sealing a “dream” move to Liverpool from Sevilla.
The 20-year-old has signed a long-term contract with the 18-time English champions after the Reds agreed a reported £7m deal to lure the Spain Under-21 international to Anfield.
Alberto, whose move is still subject to international clearance, scored 11 goals and made 17 assists in 37 appearances during a season-long loan spell at Barcelona B last term.
“I feel like I’m in a bubble at the moment,” he told Liverpool’s website.
“For me Liverpool is a top team. I feel like I am dreaming and I want to enjoy it to the full.
“I feel very excited, I’ve never felt so excited before but I’m very happy. I think I am the happiest man on earth.”
Alberto, who has scored 25 goals for Sevilla B, admitted he was surprised by Liverpool’s interest and has already set his sights on helping the club win silverware.
“I was surprised [when Liverpool showed interest in me]. You never expect this to happen to you. But as the deal moved forward, I became very happy and I wanted to come to Liverpool,” he added.
“I have come here to enjoy moments with the supporters – and I know the supporters will help me to never walk alone.
“I hope that between us all we can make this club one of the greatest in the world, once again.”
Brendan Rodgers has already signed Kolo Toure from Manchester City on a free transfer this summer, while the Reds have a £6.7m deal agreed in principle for Celta Vigo’s Iago Aspas which will go through once paperwork has been completed.
