Liverpool transfers: Luis Alberto tight-lipped on Reds speculation
Liverpool transfers: Sevilla striker Luis Alberto is remaining tight-lipped on speculation linking him with a move to Reds
Luis Alberto is remaining tight-lipped on speculation linking the Sevilla striker with a move to Liverpool this summer.
The 20-year-old is a target for Brendan Rodgers, who is looking to further strengthen his attacking options following the successful signing of Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas.
Alberto scored 11 goals and made 17 assists in 37 league appearances during a season-long loan spell at Barcelona B before returning to Sevilla this summer.
But the Spain Under-21 international refused to comment on speculation linking him with a switch to the Reds, with Sevilla looking to receive £7.7m for the striker.
“All I know now is that I’m a Sevilla player and I have to do my best because it is my home. I cannot say anything more as I don’t know and that is the truth. At the moment I am calm and thinking about my holidays,” Alberto is quoted as saying in Daily Post.
Alberto also admitted he would have liked to have joined Barcelona on a permanent basis but the newly-crowned champions failed to meet Sevilla’s asking price.
“I would have liked to stay at Barcelona, who wouldn’t?” said Alberto. “But it was very difficult, almost impossible. I’ll take the year and hope fans have enjoyed me.
“The truth is I was quite comfortable, but I knew my situation was complicated. I had to seize the opportunity and become more mature.”
