Liverpool transfers: Luis Alberto's agent confirms the Reds are interested in signing the Sevilla forward this summer
Liverpool are interested in signing Sevilla forward Luis Alberto, according to the Spaniard’s agent.
Brendan Rodgers has been linked with a move for the 20-year-old in recent weeks as the Northern Irishman looks to build a squad capable of competing for a top-four finish next term.
Alberto scored 11 goals and made 17 assists in 37 top-flight appearances during a season-long loan spell at Barcelona B, and the forward’s agent confirmed the Reds’ interest.
“The reports about Liverpool’s interest are true, they are very interested,” he told the Spanish media.
“There have been talks, and if a good offer comes a deal will be found.”
On Friday, Alberto was tight-lipped on speculation linking him with a move to the 18-time English champions, while also expressing his disappointment not to be returning to Barcelona.
“All I know now is that I’m a Sevilla player and I have to do my best because it is my home. I cannot say anything more as I don’t know and that is the truth. At the moment I am calm and thinking about my holidays,” Alberto is quoted as saying in Daily Post.
He added: “I would have liked to stay at Barcelona, who wouldn’t?” said Alberto. “But it was very difficult, almost impossible. I’ll take the year and hope fans have enjoyed me.
“The truth is I was quite comfortable, but I knew my situation was complicated. I had to seize the opportunity and become more mature.”
