Liverpool transfers: Luis Suárez drops a big hint that he would be open to switch to Real Madrid in the summer
Luis Suárez has dropped a big hint that he would be open to a move to Real Madrid this summer after admitting he would like to play with Cristiano Ronaldo.
The 26-year-old Liverpool striker has been linked with a switch to Los Blancos after confirming he would like a change of environment in May.
The Reds have insisted Suárez is not for sale but rumours persist linking the Uruguay international with a move away from the Merseyside outfit.
And when asked whether he would like to play with Madrid forward Ronaldo, Suárez said: “Of course I would like to play with Ronaldo, he is a great player.
“You never know, but it is complicated. At the moment he is in Madrid and I am in Liverpool and I do not know what is going to happen.”
Suárez scored 23 Premier League goals in 33 appearances this season before his season unravelled after biting Branislav Ivanović in a 2-2 draw with Chelsea in April.
The FA handed the striker a 10-game ban for the incident, and Suárez, who penned a new long-term deal with Liverpool last summer, was shocked by the reaction to his indiscretion.
“I know I made a mistake in the incident with Ivanovic – it was me, my fault, and he did not do anything to me,” Suárez added.
“I was angry because I had given away a penalty for handball. I was the reason for the penalty against my team – I saw red and completely lost it.
“I can’t really explain it and I am so sorry – but the reaction was amazing.”
