Liverpool transfers: Paul Ince wants son Thomas to stay at Blackpool
Liverpool transfers: Blackpool manager Paul Ince hopes to keep his son Thomas at the club beyond the summer
Paul Ince says he hopes to keep his son Thomas at Blackpool beyond the summer despite reported interest from Liverpool and Manchester United.
The 21-year-old forward has impressed for the Tangerines over the course of the season, scoring 18 goals in 44 Championship appearances.
The England Under-21 international, who joined Blackpool from Liverpool in 2011, won the Football League young player of the year award for his eye-catching displays this term.
But the Tangerines boss is hoping to keep his son at the club despite interest from his former side and newly-crowned Premier League champions.
“I hope we’ve not seen the last of Thomas in a tangerine shirt. He’s one of the situations we’ll be addressing,” Ince senior said.
“He will move on and be a top, top player in the Premier League. I just hope it’s not this summer he moves.”
The Tangerines boss added: “I think he’s been outstanding for the club.
“The last six or seven games have taken their toll on Thomas, but you expect that, he’s only a kid.
“He’s played every game for Blackpool, and for England. He looks tired and you can see that. But we should be pleased to have seen a kid come here and do so well. He’s been a joy to watch.
“To have so much pressure on his shoulders, as a young kid, you can’t underestimate. The 18 goals he scored this season kept Blackpool in the Championship.
“I’m not just saying that because he’s my son. When you look at his goals and assists, he’s done brilliantly.”
