Liverpool transfers: Pepe Reina intends to continue at Anfield
Liverpool transfers: Pepe Reina says he intends to see out the remaining three years of his contract with the Reds
Pepe Reina says he intends to see out the remaining three years of his Liverpool contract despite reports linking the goalkeeper with a transfer this summer.
The Spain international’s Reds future is currently unclear, with Brendan Rodgers linked with a move for Sunderland shot-stopper Simon Mignolet in recent weeks.
Reina, who is currently on Spain duty at the Confederations Cup, has been touted as a possible replacement for Victor Valdes, who is set to quit Barcelona next summer.
But the 30-year-old insisted he is happy at the 18-time English champions, and for now at least, plans to see out contract at the Merseyside outfit.
“My situation is clear. I have a three-year contract with Liverpool, although in football you can never tell,” Reina said.
“I’m very happy and satisfied at Liverpool, I feel valued and respected.
“Logically, if there was a chance to improve and go to a bigger club it would be a good opportunity, although there are few clubs bigger than Liverpool.”
Reina added: “In principle my plan is to continue with Liverpool.
“I have three years left on my contract and I want to fulfil that and even go further.”
