Liverpool transfers: Pepe Reina's agent rubbishes speculation linking the Spain goalkeeper with a move to Napoli this summer
Pepe Reina’s agent has reiterated the goalkeeper’s future is at Liverpool despite reports linking the Spaniard with a move to Napoli.
The 30-year-old has been touted as a potential long-term replacement for Barcelona’s Víctor Valdes, who is expected to leave Camp Nou when his contract ends next summer.
Former Reds boss Rafael Benítez has been appointed as Walter Mazzarri’s successor at Napoli, and the Champions League winner has been linked with a bid for the shot stopper, who he brought to the Premier League in 2005.
But Reina’s agent Manuel Garcia Quilon is adamant that the Spain international will be staying at the Merseyside outfit beyond the summer.
“Reina has been clear in recent days his thoughts, his future is still at Liverpool,” Garcia Quilon told Tuttomercatoweb.
“At the moment there are no chances for Napoli and Barcelona.
“Pepe considers Benítez a great coach but his future will still be at Anfield.”
Last week, Reina emphasised his desire to remain at the five-time European champions amid “rumours” touting a possible switch to the newly-crowned La Liga champions.
“I have my own contract with Liverpool for three more years,” Reina told Sky Sports News. “Nothing has changed.
“If so, we want to make it bigger and my future is with Liverpool.
“Right now, about Barça, there are only rumours and only people talking about possibilities. There are no facts. I cannot talk further on that.”
