Liverpool transfers: Simon Kjaer open to new Wolfsburg deal
Liverpool transfers: Denmark international Simon Kjaer hints he would be willing to sign a new deal with Wolfsburg
Simon Kjaer says he would consider penning a new deal with Wolfsburg amid reported interest from Liverpool.
The Denmark international has been linked with a move away from the Bundesliga outfit after a series of mixed performances following his move to Wolfsburg from Palermo in 2010.
Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is reported to be keen to sign a young centre-half as a long-term replacement for the recently retired Jamie Carragher.
Kjaer’s international captain, Daniel Agger, is already playing for Liverpool, but the 24-year-old hinted he would be willing to commit his future to Wolfsburg.
“It depends on our negotiations and how Wolfsburg see things,” said Kjaer.
“I certainly would be willing to sign. If they were to offer a new contract and could offer guarantees about playing an important part, it would be a possibility.
“Wolfsburg are a club who want to fight at the top of the table and have the resources to do that. The Bundesliga is a fantastic place to play football right now and it is not a bad place for me.
“I am happy to be at Wolfsburg and have declared that ever since the new coach was appointed.”
