Liverpool’s Borini: Balotelli most skilful team-mate I’ve played with
Liverpool striker Fabio Borini reveals AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli is the most skilful team-mate that he's played with
Fabio Borini says former Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli is the most skilful team-mate that the Liverpool forward has played alongside.
The Reds forward impressed at the European Under-21 championship, scoring twice as Italy suffered a 4-2 loss to Spain in the final in the tournament in Israel.
Borini’s compatriot, Balotelli, who joined AC Milan from the Citizens in January, has also netted twice for Italy’s senior side in the Confederations Cup in Brazil.
And when asked to name the most skilful player that he’s played with, Borini told Liverpool’s website: “I’ve played with Mario Balotelli for Italy a few times so it has to be him.”
The 22-year-old has scored two goals in 20 appearances for the Merseyside outfit after completing a £10.5m move to the Reds from Roma last summer.
Borini, who was also a former youth team player at Chelsea, named Juventus legend Alessandro del Piero as his boyhood hero – and football icon – ahead of the likes of Steven Gerrard and Francesco Totti.
“He [Del Piero] was the best player in the Juventus team. Roberto Baggio was another No.10 that I liked.
He added: “I know he’s a lot older but it’s still Alessandro del Piero [who is Borini’s icon]. He plays for Sydney in the Australian League now.”
