Man City chairman: Our target is to win every competition next season
Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak says the club's target is to win 'every competition' next season
Manchester City’s target for next season is to win every competition, according to the club’s chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak.
The Citizens are currently without a manager after sacking Roberto Mancini last month, with Manuel Pellegrini the front-runner to be named as the Italian’s successor.
Despite the huge investment in the City squad, the Eastlands outfit finished the season without any silverware following a disappointing Premier League campaign and a shock loss to Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup final.
And Al Mubarak expects the Citizens to mount a serious challenge for the top-flight crown, as well as making a big improvement in the Champions League following an early exit this season.
“The target now is to win every competition that we play in,” Al Mubarak told City’s website.
“It is a high ambition, but we have the organisation and the squad to get us there. We have won the Premier League before, we know what it takes to win
it and we will win it again. We have won the FA Cup before and we can do that again.
“In Europe, we have not been as successful in the Champions League and there is no doubt we have a lot of improvement to make there.
“But with the squad, the organisation, the manager coming in and the new players we will sign, we will have a strong team to compete in the Champions League.”
