Man City transfers: David De Gea backs Isco for Citizens move
Man City transfers: Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea backs Isco's potential move to the Citizens this summer
David De Gea has backed Isco’s proposed transfer to Manchester City, admitting Manchester United’s local rivals are a “great club”.
The 21-year-old Málaga midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to the Citizens in recent weeks amid reports his former manager Manuel Pellegrini was set to take charge of the club.
The Chilean signed a three-year deal with the Eastlands outfit on Friday, which is set to fuel speculation linking the one-time Premier League champions with a bid for Isco.
And De Gea, who is team-mates with the Spaniard at the Under-21 European championship, reckons Isco could do much worse than moving to the Citizens.
“You never know what will happen, I wish him all the best. I hope he goes to a club where he feels happy and does well there,” De Gea told AS.
“What I can say is that it is great to be in Manchester at the moment and although City are our rivals, they are a great club.”
Isco has scored 16 goals in 85 appearances for Málaga after completing a move to Pellegrini’s side from Valencia in 2011.
