Stephan El Shaarawy was one of AC Milan’s outstanding players last season, playing a large part in helping the club secure Champions League football after the seven-time European champions had initially struggled during the early stages of Massimiliano Allegri’s reign as coach. The 20-year-old has been linked with a reported £30m move to City, although the Italian recently stated that he is more than happy with life in Milan.
Ángel di María has been linked with a switch to The Etihad next season, with City apparently readying a £30m bid for the Real Madrid winger. The creative Argentine is seen as an important member of the team at Santiago Bernabéu, but City’s vast cash reserves could see the Spanish giants willing to do business.
Seen as one of the rising stars of Spanish football, Isco has been a target of both City and Chelsea for some time. The Málaga playmaker is just 21, and recently claimed that Manuel Pellegrini, who is favourite to take over next season, is his “footballing father”. The Andalusians’ financial problems could also mean that they are willing to listen to offers for the talented youngster.
Pepe has recently been linked with a switch to City next season as the club look to bolster their defensive options following the sale of Kolo Touré to Liverpool and the uncertainty over Joleon Lescott’s future. The Portuguese has been the subject of reported interest from the blue half of Manchester, with the club looking to launch a £21m bid for the 30-year-old.
Thiago Alcantara is another player from La Liga who has been linked with a move to The Etihad next season. With Txiki Begiristain’s run as director of football in full swing, it is perhaps understandable that the club seem to targeting talent from Spain. Thiago has been associated with moves to both City and their fierce local rivals Manchester United, and has a reported £18m buyout clause in his contract.
