Roberto Mancini has backed Juventus-bound Carlos Tevez to be a success at the Serie A champions.

The Argentina international, who has one year remaining on his Manchester City contract, is reported to be on the verge of a £10m switch to the Italian side.

Former Manchester United striker Tevez scored 11 goals and made eight assists in 34 Premier League appearances last season.

Mancini worked with the 29-year-old for four years at The Etihad before he was sacked in May, and the former City boss is confident Tevez will do well in Italy.

“He is an extraordinary player, capable, with great technique and talent,” Mancini told TuttoJuve.com.

“He will certainly do well at Juventus. I can’t wait to see him in action in Italy.”

Tevez scored 73 goals in 138 appearances for the Citizens after completing a controversial move to City from Manchester United in 2009.
