Man United transfers: Cesc Fàbregas brands speculation ‘absurd’
Man United transfers: Cesc Fàbregas again rubbishes speculation linking him with a transfer away from Barcelona this summer
Cesc Fàbregas has again rubbished speculation linking him with a transfer to Manchester United by insisting that he is happy at Barcelona.
The 26-year-old’s future has come under the spotlight in recent weeks following a mixed second season at Camp Nou in which his first-team opportunities have been limited.
The former Arsenal captain has been touted as a target for United in recent days, with the Gunners also inevitably linked with the playmaker.
However, the Spain international has poured cold water on the reports suggesting he is unhappy at Barcelona by insisting that he wants to stay at the club.
“I’ve always said that I’m happy at Barca,” Fàbregas is quoted as saying by Sky Sports. “Whoever says that I’m leaving doesn’t know me and has never spoken with me.
“Nor with my agent, because he knows that I don’t want him to talk with other people about me. I’m very private and I don’t even talk about these things with my family.
“If someone says anything that isn’t that I want to play at Barca, it’s completely absurd.”
Fàbregas left Arsenal for Barcelona in the summer 2011 and still has three years left to run on his contract with the newly-crowned La Liga champions.
The midfielder scored 11 goals in 32 Primera División appearances for the Catalan outfit last season.
