Geoffrey Kondogbia could leave Sevilla for £8.5m this summer amid reported interest from Manchester United, the Spanish club’s president has revealed.

The Red Devils are thought to be keen on luring the France Under-20 international to Old Trafford after he enjoyed an impressive first season at Sevilla since his move from Lens last summer.

Sevilla chief Jose María del Nido revealed that the La Liga outfit have already turned down an offer for the defensive midfielder from an unnamed club.

But Del Nido has left the door open for a possible deal for Kondogbia by confirming that the player has a £8.5m release clause in his current contract.

“We have rejected an offer for Kondogbia – the bid was not sufficient,” Del Nido said.

“Our idea is that he continues growing at Sevilla, just like he did last year.

“But there is a release clause that says if we have a written offer of £8.5m, we must accept it and he can go.”

Kondogbia made a total of 31 La Liga appearances for Sevilla last season, scoring one goal and notching up one assist.
