Man United transfers: Uruguay Under-20 international Guillermo Varela confirms he is set to undergo a medical on Friday
Guillermo Varela claims he is set to have a medical at Manchester United on Friday as the defender looks to complete a move to Old Trafford.
The Uruguay Under-20 international is reported to have impressed during a trial at the newly-crowned Premier League champions last season.
And the Penarol full-back revealed he is set to travel to 20-time English champions before linking up with his national side on Saturday.
“I will have a medical on Friday and on Saturday I join the Uruguay Under-20 national team,” Varela told Futbol a lo Penarol.
“I will have to learn English, Rodolfo Catino [Penarol’s club treasurer] taught me something, the structure is impressive.”
The South American youngster also confirmed that Penarol and United have agreed a transfer fee which could be worth as much as €2.8m (£2.4m).
“The deal has been agreed, we now have to discuss some points, there won’t be any percentage regarding any future transfer,” he added.
“The deal can be as much as 2.8 million Euros. Guille will adapt quickly to Manchester.”
David Moyes is set sign a six-year deal with the Red Devils after being confirmed as Sir Alex Ferguson’s successor in May.
