Man United transfers: Yohan Cabaye open to Red Devils move
Man United transfers: Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye says he would open to a move to the Red Devils
Yohan Cabaye has admitted he would be open to the “challenge” of playing for Manchester United.
The France international was one of Newcastle United’s most consistent performers despite Alan Pardew’s men limping to a 17th-place finish in the Premier League last season.
And Cabaye, 27, who has three years remaining on his current Magpies deal, has expressed his interest in joining the reigning Premier League champions.
“Yes, of course. I’ve liked this club [United] for a long time, I like what they do,” he told Canal+.
“The boss has left but they have appointed a very good successor and he did some good things with Everton.
“They are always well played among the big clubs. Yes, for sure, it would be an interesting challenge.”
Cabaye scored six goals in 26 Premier League appearances from midfield last term, taking his tally to 10 top-flight goals since completing a switch from Lille in 2011.
The Newcastle playmaker has also been linked with a switch to Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain and cash-rich Monaco in recent weeks.
But the 27-year-old admitted he is unaware of any interest from the two French sides.
“I have no direct contact with anyone; maybe my agents are currently in the know,” he added.
“As for me, I am here listening. I like England as well. I will need to look at the situation but you never know.”
