Manchester United's new signing Guillermo Varela says he wants to win trophies under Red Devils boss David Moyes
Guillermo Varela says he wants to win trophies at Manchester United after completing his move the Red Devils on Tuesday.
The 18-year-old right-back signed a five-year deal at Old Trafford after finally sealing his £1m switch to the newly-crowned Premier League champions from Penarol.
The Uruguay Under-20 international, who will play for his country at the Under-20 World Cup later this month, becomes the first signing of David Moyes’ reign.
Varela has earned comparisons to former United defender Gabriel Heinze, and the South American is thrilled to complete a move to Old Trafford.
“I’m very pleased to be a part of this club, one of the best teams in the world,” said Varela.
“As everyone in the world knows, this is a huge club that has won everything and I really hope that continues.
“I’m very lucky there are quite a few Spanish-speakers here.
“It will certainly help me settle in.”
