QPR transfers: Redknapp linked with Bentley and Gallas deals
QPR transfers: Harry Redknapp is being linked with a move for David Bentley and William Gallas
Harry Redknapp could be set to offer a lifeline to William Gallas and David Bentley after the pair were released by Tottenham Hotspur.
The news comes after the Premier League published a list of players that will not be retained by their clubs for the upcoming season.
Having worked with Gallas and Bentley during his time in charge at Tottenham, the 66-year-old is said to be keen on bringing in the pair, with whom he holds a strong working relationship.
Gallas was made Spurs captain under Redknapp, and the Frenchman is seen as someone who would stand by his former boss and help to unite an increasingly unsettled dressing room.
Speaking about QPR’s transfer policy, Redknapp said: “If we don’t change it, and I don’t get the players that I want to bring in, then we have not got a chance.
“You can’t have other people having a say at all, I’m a football person and I’ve got a staff around me of football people.
“We’ve got to make the decisions, and if we make the right ones we will have a chance. Otherwise, if other people want to make decisions we’ve got no chance.
“If I don’t get that, then I wouldn’t stick around.”
Hoops chairman Tony Fernandes has since played down a rift with his manager, insisting that club are doing everything they can to land their transfer targets.
