Tottenham transfers: Carlo Ancelotti coy on Gareth Bale talk
Tottenham transfers: Carlo Ancelotti refuses to be drawn on speculation linking Real Madrid with a move for Gareth Bale
Carlo Ancelotti refused to be drawn on speculation linking Real Madrid with a move for Gareth Bale following his appointment as manager of Los Blancos.
The Spanish giants have been relentlessly linked with a swoop for the Tottenham star since Spurs’ failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Madrid are reported to be lining up a big-money bid to lure the Wales international to the Bernabeu despite Tottenham insisting that the talismanic forward is not for sale.
Ancelotti, 54 was appointed as Jose Mourinho’s successor at Madrid this week on a three-year contract.
And when asked about Bale, Ancelotti replied: “We’ve not spoken of signings because today is the first day I am here.
“I cannot give any information on the players who might come in or those who will leave.
“The squad is very good. In the next few days we will talk with the club about what we need.
“It has a lot of young players from the youth set-up. That’s good. Having youth products is good because they have ambition and enthusiasm.”
Bale scored 21 Premier League goals for Tottenham last season and won both the PFA player and young player of the year awards.
