David Luiz has backed Paulinho to shine in the Premier League if the Brazil striker joins Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

The 24-year-old has been linked with a switch to Spurs after the north London club were reported to have agreed a £17m deal with Corinthians earlier this month.

And Chelsea defender Luiz, who is currently on international with his compatriot at the Confederations Cup, believes Paulinho would prove a hit in England if he completes a move.

“If he gets to play in England, he will definitely go far,” he told Fifa.com.

“His game fits perfectly with the pace of English football.

“It’s incredibly valuable to have someone like that in your side. Especially when the team (Brazil) is getting along together as well as ours is.”

The Tottenham target believes his performance in a 2-1 victory over Uruguay highlighted the qualities which he could bring to Spurs.

“It really is one of my qualities, moving into different areas of the field, picking up opponents as well as helping to attack,” said Paulinho.

“I try to help in every possible way and I’ll try to keep on doing that, both for my club and the national side, because that’s how I’ve always had success.”
