Tottenham transfers: No offers for Leandro Damiao, say Internacional
Tottenham transfers: Internacional say they have received no new offers for Leandro Damiao amid interest from the Saints
Internacional have not received any new offers for Tottenham Hotspur target Leandro Damiao despite reported interest from Southampton, according to the Brazilian club’s director of football.
The 23-year-old has been heavily linked with a switch to the north London side after coming close to sealing a move to White Hart Lane in two previous transfer windows.
The Brazil international, who is currently on international duty with his country at the Confederations Cup, is also attracting interest from Southampton.
Andre Villas-Boas is reportedly keen to add further depth to his squad after Emmanuel Adebayor and Jermain Defore struggled with both form and injuries last season.
The Saints were reported to have launched a bid for the forward, but director of football Luis Cesar Souto de Moura insisted there have been no new offers.
“Nothing has come, clubs from everywhere sound him out all the time, but we don’t even consider that anymore, as there are too many enquiries but offers never come,” he told Esporte Interativo.
“I am working with the idea of keeping the player, so that he doesn’t leave.”
Earlier this month, Damiao insisted he was happy at Internacional and isn’t aware of any interest from the Premier League.
“I am an Internacional player until 2015 and I am happy,” he told Globo Esporte.
“I will leave Internacional one day but there is no offer today and maybe there won’t be any tomorrow. I am calm.”
Damiao, whose current contract is set to expire in 2017, has scored over 80 goals in 147 games for Internacional.
