Paulinho has confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur have made an offer for the Brazil international – but insists he will not make a decision about his future until after the Confederations Cup.

The 24-year-old Corinthians midfielder has been heavily linked with a £17m transfer to White Hart Lane in recent weeks and is believed to be one of Spurs’ top targets this summer.

Now, the player himself has confirmed that there is an official offer from the north London side on the table – but he says he will not think about his future until he returns from international duty.

Paulinho said: “There is an official offer from Tottenham to Corinthians but, as I did when there was an Inter Milan offer, I’ll sit and decide with my family before I make any decision.

“And I will only do it after the Confederations Cup because it’s hard to deal with all these things.”

The news comes after Corinthians director of football Edu said that the two clubs were in advanced talks over a deal.

“The situation is well under way,” Edu told UOL. “We have to agree on some details of the negotiation, so I can’t say he will leave yet, but the negotiations are good.”
