Tottenham transfers: Paulinho eyes ‘fantastic opportunity’ at Spurs
Tottenham transfers: Corinthians midfielder Paulinho admits it would be a "fantastic opportunity" to play for Spurs
Paulinho admits it would be a “fantastic opportunity” to play for Tottenham Hotspur after Spurs reportedly tabled a £17m bid for the Corinthians midfielder.
The Brazilian, who is currently on duty at the Confederations Cup, is believed to be one of Andre Villas-Boas’ top targets this summer after impressing for his club.
And the 24-year-old playmaker, who has scored four goals in 15 appearances for Brazil, believes he is ready to fulfil a dream and test himself in the Premier League.
“I feel I am ready to experience football at the highest level in Europe and the opportunity to play in England is a dream,” Paulinho is quoted as saying in the Independent.
“It’s a great pleasure to be linked to such a great club like Tottenham. They have a reputation as one of the great clubs in England who play exciting, attacking football which suits my style.
“I couldn’t turn them down if they made me an offer. It would be a fantastic opportunity to play for Tottenham.”
Corinthians are believed to be desperate to hold talks with their star Paulinho, but the midfielder’s agent revealed there is a £17m (€20m) buyout clause in his client’s contract which Spurs are reported to have matched.
“The buy-out fee is €20m and Corinthians can’t do anything,” Alves told UOL. “We’ll talk with him.
“Paulinho already knows about the offer, we told him.
“He asked to wait until he returns from the national team. When he comes, the final decision will be made.”
