Wilfried Zaha is ready for Man United challenge, insists Ian Holloway
Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha is ready for the challenge of being a Manchester United player, says Ian Holloway
Ian Holloway believes Manchester United winger Wilfried Zaha is ready for the Premier League and doesn’t need another season at Crystal Palace.
Zaha will link up with his new club this summer after the Reds Devils agreed a £10m deal for the England international in January before loaning the star back to Palace.
The 20-year-old scored two goals in Palace’s play-off semi-final triumph before impressing in their final victory over Watford at Wembley.
And Holloway rubbished suggestions Zaha needs a season to acclimatise in the English top flight before beginning his new challenge at the newly-crowned Premier League champions.
“I have heard it mooted that we will try to persuade United to allow us to take Wilfried on loan so he can get acclimatised to the Premier League,” Holloway wrote in his column in the Mirror.
“I think that is unfair on a player who has been brilliant for us and goes to Old Trafford with the best wishes of everyone connected to Palace.
“He is now ready for the challenge of becoming a United player and I won’t be making a call unless I am encouraged to do so by David Moyes.”
Zaha has scored 18 goals in 143 appearances for Palace, with his eye-catching performances this season culminating in the forward scooping the Championship player of the year award.
