Arsenal need to be like Man City & Man United, says Per Mertesacker
Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker believes the Gunners need to be more like Manchester City and Manchester United
Per Mertesacker believes Arsenal need to be more like Manchester City and Manchester United this season if the Gunners want to win silverware.
The north London side were in impressive form in the final part of the season as Arsene Wenger’s side secured a fourth-place finish.
However, Arsenal’s indifferent form throughout the 2012-13 campaign prevented the Emirates Stadium outfit launching a Premier League title challenge.
And Mertesacker acknowledged the Gunners need to be more consistent if they are to have a chance of winning any trophies this term.
“Manchester City and United have been so successful because they are so consistent,” Mertesacker told the Sun.
“If we can keep the consistency we showed at the end of last season, we should be challenging for trophies and titles.”
Mertesacker has scored three goals in 71 appearances for the Gunners after a reported £10m switch to the north London side from Werder Bremen.
