Asmir Begovic insists he is happy to stay at Stoke City despite being linked with Arsenal and Manchester United this summer.

The Potters were widely expected to sell the Bosnia international at the end of the season after former boss Tony Pulis agreed to sign Jack Butland in the January transfer window.

However, the 26-year-old looks set to be at Stoke City for the start of the new campaign with new boss Mark Hughes looking to send Jack Butland on loan.

“I always tried to stay focused and not concentrate on outside things,” Begovic told the Sentinel.

“You never know for sure in football what can happen, of course, but as far as I am concerned, I am happy things are settled.

“I am happy to stay and I am not looking for a move. It’s where I see my future.”

Stoke City owner Peter Coates also confirmed Begovic would be starting the season as the Potters’ first-choice goalkeeper.

“Begovic will be our goalkeeper at the start of the season,” Coates told the Sun.

“And I would think we’d be definitely looking to get Jack Butland playing somewhere next season where we can improve his game.”
