Arsenal transfers: Ray Parlour says the Gunners need "three or four new" players if they are to challenge for honours next season

Ray Parlour believes that Arsenal need to sign “three or four” players this summer to have any chance of challenging for the Premier League title next season.

The Gunners have so far this summer only signed Yaya Sanogo on a free transfer from Auxerre, despite being linked with big-money swoops for the likes of Gonzalo Higuain, Marouane Fellaini and Luis Suárez.

And former Arsenal midfielder Parlour says Arsene Wenger needs to bring in a number of new faces if the north Londoners are to avoid a ninth trophy-less campaign next term.

“The fans want to win something now, they need to start challenging Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea next season,” Parloud told talkSPORT.

“They need to get back up there again. That’s Wenger’s main job now and it’s a big challenge. He’s got a massive summer in front of him where he needs to bring in three or four players to improve the side and maybe challenge for the title again.”
