Arsenal transfers: ‘No Gunners approach for Gonzalo Higuaín’
Arsenal transfers: Florentino Perez says Real Madrid have not received any offer from Arsenal - or other clubs - for Gonzalo Higuaín
Florentino Perez has claimed Real Madrid have not received an approach from Arsenal for their striker Gonzalo Higuaín.
The 25-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Gunners in recent weeks and the north Londoners were believed to be closing in on a £22m deal for the Argentina international.
However, Madrid president Perez has rubbished the speculation and insisted the club have not received any offers for the forward, who scored 16 La Liga goals last season.
“We don’t want Higuaín to leave,” Perez told Univision.
“What’s more no-one from Arsenal has come to us and made us any offers at all for him. There are no offers on the table.”
Last week, Higuaín’s brother and agent had claimed Arsenal and Madrid were in talks over the possible sale of the striker.
“Nothing has been signed yet, but I assure you that the negotiations between the clubs are in a very advanced phase,” Jorge Higuaín is quoted as saying by tuttomercatoweb.com
“We do not negotiate with any club without permission of the selling club.
“I’m sure that Arsenal have made a great offer, just like Juventus.”
Higuain has scored 122 goals for Real Madrid during an eight-year spell at the Bernabeu.
