Olivier Giroud says he would welcome the arrival of Luis Suárez at Arsenal should the Liverpool striker secure a transfer to the Emirates Stadium.

The Reds confirmed this week that they have rejected a bid from the Gunners, believed to be in the region of £30m, amid speculation over the Uruguay international’s Anfield future.

And although the arrival of the 26-year-old in north London would provide extra competition amongst Arsenal’s forwards, Giroud insists he would be pleased to play alongside the controversial striker.

“I could have a good relationship with Suarez on the pitch,’ Giroud told L’Equipe. “So I am for Suarez’s arrival. I’m not afraid of competition.

“On a personal level, my goal is to do better than last season, so put more than 17 goals and 10 assists.”

Suárez scored 23 Premier League goals for Liverpool last season before being handed a 10-game ban for biting Branislav Ivanovic during the 2-2 draw with Chelsea at Anfield back in April.
