Arsenal transfers: QPR’s Júlio Cesar keen to stay in London
Arsenal transfers: Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Júlio Cesar says he is keen to remain in London
Júlio Cesar has admitted he wants to continue living in London amid reports the Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper could join Arsenal this summer.
The Hoops shot-stopper was part of the Brazil side which secured a memorable 3-0 victory over world and European champions Spain in the Confederations Cup final on Sunday night.
The 33-year-old is now the front-runner to be first-choice goalkeeper for the hosts at next year’s World Cup – and Cesar admitted he needs to secure regular first-team football at the top level to secure his position.
“Now I have to do things right at my club so I can be considered for the World Cup,” Cesar said.
When asked whether Cesar’s son had expressed his desire to stay in England’s capital, the Gunners target replied: “Yes, me too. I love the city and I’m enjoying living there.”
The QPR goalkeeper was one of the standout players in an otherwise dreadful campaign for the west London side after joining from Inter Milan last summer.
And Cesar won the Confederation Cup’s Golden Glove award after conceding just three goals in the tournament.
“I’m very happy for winning the Golden Glove,” Cesar added. “It’s a great award and it’s going to my collection.”
