Arsene Wenger has reassured Arsenal fans that the Gunners are working hard behind the scenes to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.

The north London club have been linked with a host of big names this summer, including the likes of Gonzalo Higuain, Luis Suárez and Wayne Rooney.

But despite all of of the speculation, the Gunners have only signed 20-year-old French striker Yaya Sanogo on a free transfer from Auxerre so far.

However, Wenger insists that the club are working hard to bring in reinforcements ahead of the 2013-14 campaign.

“You want me to announce a spectacular signing but I can’t,” said Wenger, speaking on the Vietnamese leg of Arsenal’s Asia tour.

“But we are working behind the scenes to strengthen the squad.”

The Frenchman also believes that the title race will be wide open next season.

“The next Premier League season will be interesting. Many teams can win the title,” he said.

“The fact Sir Alex Ferguson has retired brings some uncertainty to Manchester United – but David Moyes is there and I’m sure they will be candidates to win it.”
