Chelsea’s Petr Cech best goalkeeper in the world, says Jose Mourinho
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho backs first-choice goalkeeper Petr Cech after sgning Mark Schwarzer on a free transfer
Jose Mourinho has backed Chelsea number one Petr Cech after the Blues boss signed Mark Schwarzer on a free transfer.
The 50-year-old snapped up the Australia international on a free transfer after the shot stopper left Chelsea’s west London rivals Fulham earlier this week.
The Europa League winners allowed Ross Turnbull to leave the club earlier this summer, and Mourinho hopes the former Middlesbrough goalkeeper will provide competition for Cech.
“Mark is what we need. I always thought, even when I was not at Chelsea, that we have we have the best keeper in the world in Petr,” said Mourinho.
“But we need competition for him, motivation for him, security and I think Schwarzer is perfect for that.
“He has experience, has spent his whole career in the Premier League, so it’s his national habitat. Getting Mark on a free transfer, we have the goalkeeper to complete our set of goalkeepers.”
Cech has made 425 appearances for Chelsea after the Czech Republic international joined the club from Rennes in 2004.
