Chelsea transfers: Roma boss wants to keep Daniele De Rossi
Chelsea transfers: Roma manager Rudi Garcia says he wants to keep Daniele De Rossi amid Premier League interest
Rudi Garcia says he wants to keep talismanic midfielder Daniele De Rossi at Roma amid interest from Chelsea and Manchester City.
The 29-year-old Italian has been linked with a switch to the Premier League at regular intervals over the past 12 months despite penning a five-year deal in February 2012.
The Italy international, capped 90 times by the Azzurri, is reported to be on Jose Mourinho’s wish list as the Chelsea manager looks to strengthen ahead of the new season.
But Roma manager Garcia is desperate to keep hold of the Rome-born midfielder as he prepares for his first campaign in charge at Stadio Olimpico.
“He is a great player and surely it’s better to have him with us than to see him leave,” said Garcia.
The Roma manager also emphasised his desire to see Pablo Osvaldo and Marquinhos stay in the Italian capital amid speculation surrounding their respective futures.
He added: “They are still with us, we would like to keep the best players. But if they were to leave, we will replace them.”
