Everton transfers: Martínez wants ‘three or four’ new signings
Everton transfers: Roberto Martínez says he hopes to bring in "three or four" new signings at Goodison Park this summer
Roberto Martínez has revealed that he hopes to bring in “three or four” new signings at Everton before the transfer window closes.
The newly-appointed Everton boss has been linked with moves for ex-Wigan pair Arouna Kone and Antolin Alcaraz, as well as Spartak Moscow’s Aiden McGeady in recent weeks.
And the Spaniard is keen to bolster his squad with a number of new players before the start of the 2013-14 campaign.
“I think we need to bring in three or four new faces – one per unit, and make sure we get an extra option or dimension into the squad,” said Martínez.
“The most important aspect is to try to keep the squad together and get every player ready.
“We need to remember that we have a very strong team at the club, but in the same way we don’t want to close the window without feeling stronger than we were when the window opened.”
Asked specifically about Kone and Alcaraz, he replied: “You can expect those sorts of names.
“They are players that I know really, really well. I worked with them really closely and they are players that are used to the Premier League and the British game.
“So you will always get those sorts of situations but at the moment we are still looking to try and bring the right characters to the football club.”
