Gareth Bale: Tottenham need to qualify for Champions League
Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale says the north London side need to qualify for the Champions League this season
Gareth Bale says Tottenham Hotspur need to go “one better” and qualify for the Champions League next season.
The 23-year-old was denied the chance to test himself on Europe’s biggest stage in the 2013-14 campaign after Spurs missed out on a fourth-place finish on the final day of the season.
The Wales international has been the subject of interest from La Liga runners-up Real Madrid for the majority of the summer after the forward scored 21 Premier League goals last term.
But the former Southampton youth graduate, who won the PFA player and young player of the year awards in April for his performances, is concentrating on improving next term and not his long-term future.
“I am hoping to improve from last season, every season I want to keep improving and keep becoming a better player, I have more experience now,” Bale told Sky Sports News.
“For me I need to keep working hard on the training pitch and on game days and hopefully progress as a player and become even better.”
He added: “I think everyone at the club wants us to finish in the top four, the club wants to be in the top four and we need to go one better this season and finish in the top four.”
