Gerard Pique: Man United wasting their time trying to sign Cesc Fàbregas
Barcelona defender Gerard Pique says Manchester United are wasting their time trying to lure Cesc Fàbregas to Old Trafford
Gerard Pique has warned Manchester United that they are wasting their time trying to sign Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fàbregas.
Red Devils boss David Moyes confirmed on Monday that the Premier League champions had made a second bid, believed to be in the region of £30m, for the former Arsenal captain.
Fàbregas has endured a mixed two seasons at Barcelona since the Spain international completed a move back to the Catalan side from Arsenal in August 2011.
And Barcelona centre-half Pique, who spent four seasons at United, revealed Fàbregas has told the La Liga champions that he wants to stay at Camp Nou.
“United are wasting their time. It took a long time for Cesc to get his dream move back home and he won’t give it up,” Pique told the Sun.
“This is home, it is where his family is, and he is playing with his closest friends.
“He has told us he is happy and that he intends to stay with Barcelona.”
Fàbregas has scored 29 goals and made 32 assists in 96 appearances for Barcelona after completing a £35m move from the Gunners.
