Jose Enrique believes Liverpool’s summer signings have already improved Brendan Rodgers’ squad this summer.

The Reds boss has wasted no time in strengthening his squad, snapping up Luis Alberto, Iago Aspas, Simon Mignolet and Kolo Toure.

Liverpool finished in seventh place last season, a staggering 28 points behind Premier League champions Manchester United.

However, Enrique is confident the club’s new arrivals can help propel the Reds further up the table, with the left-back determined to improve his own performances.

“We have a really good team; we did already last year but with the few additions we have now, we have an even better team. Hopefully we’ll do well and get where we want to be,” Enrique told Liverpool’s website.

“What I want to do is play as much as I can. I have to try to play better every season. Hopefully I can help the team, if I can score goals then much better. But the most important thing for me is to help the team.

“To be honest, during the summer I was working three or four times a week – not very hard, but something. I can really feel it.

“Of course, training is still really hard but I feel quite fit. We are looking forward now – the team we have this year is exciting. Hopefully it’s going well.”
