Liverpool transfers: Aly Cissokho thrilled to be linked with Reds
Liverpool transfers: Valencia defender Aly Cissokho says it is fantastic to be linked with a club of the Reds' stature
Aly Cissokho says it is fantastic to be linked with “a great club” such as Liverpool amid uncertainty surrounding his future at Valencia.
The France international struggled to hold down a regular starting spot at the Mestalla outfit last season after joining from Ligue 1 outfit Lyon in August.
Cissokho started just 18 of his 25 La Liga appearances, scoring twice and making two assists, while featuring seven times in the Champions League.
Brendan Rodgers has been linked with a swoop for the left-back as the Northern Irishman looks to unearth competition for Jose Enrique.
But although Cissokho admitted he would be interested in a potential move to a “legendary” club like Liverpool, the 25-year-old was adamant there is no official bid from the Reds as of yet.
“I will not believe that I am going anywhere until I am in Liverpool and having a medical,” Cissokho is quoted as saying by Sky Sports.
“Liverpool is such a great club, so to be linked with them is fantastic. But there is nothing concrete from anyone at the moment.
“If there is an opportunity to join such a club, I will take it. Valencia are a great club, in a great city, but Liverpool are a legendary club.”
