Liverpool transfers: Dortmund ‘in talks’ to sign Henrikh Mkhitaryan
Liverpool transfers: Borussia Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc confirms the club is trying to sign Henrikh Mkhitaryan
Borussia Dortmund are in talks to sign Liverpool target Henrikh Mkhitaryan, according to the Bundesliga outfit’s sporting director Michael Zorc.
The Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder, who scored 25 goals in 28 top-flight appearances last season, has been heavily linked with a switch to the Reds in recent weeks.
Liverpool were reportedly weighing up a £23m offer for the midfielder but the Champions League runners-up appear to be leading the race to snap up the Armenia international.
“We are working on it. We are still in talks,” Zorc told Kicker.
Meanwhile, Shakhtar Donetsk chief executive Sergei Palkin confirmed Dortmund have made a €25m (£21.5m) bid for Mkhitaryan but the Ukrainian champions want more for their talisman.
“I have not talked to him. Borussia have offered us €25 million – to us, this is not enough, but we are talking to the German club. There is a real possibility that we will come to an agreement in the near future,” said Palkin.
The Shakhtar chief also refused to shed light on whether Mkhitaryan had agreed personal terms with Dortmund.
“Such questions should be directed to the player and his representatives,” he added.
