Liverpool transfers: Christian Eriksen unaware of Reds interest
Liverpool transfers: Christian Eriksen claims the Reds haven't shown any interest in signing the Ajax midfielder this summer
Christian Eriksen has claimed Liverpool haven’t shown any interest in signing the Ajax midfielder this summer.
The Denmark international was reported to be one of Brendan Rodgers’ key targets after the Reds boss missed out on Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who joined Borussia Dortmund last week.
However, Eriksen, 21, is adamant that he hasn’t spoken to any clubs “bigger than Ajax”.
“I do not know more about this than you,” he told Voetbal International. “If I leave, I have to go to a club that is bigger than Ajax in every way.
“But no clubs like that have shown interest yet. I’ve read a lot about it, but heard nothing from the club.”
On Sunday, Ajax manager Frank De Boer insisted he wouldn’t prevent Eriksen from completing a dream move to Anfield should an offer from the Reds materialise.
“It is up to Christian what he wants,” said De Boer. “If he feels good going to Liverpool, then it is up to him.
“I would want nothing more than having him with us for a few more years.
“But we realise the interest in this kind of player is huge. And I can also understand that he wants to make another step in his career. I can’t stop him.”
