Kolo Toure says Liverpool striker Luis Suárez has a better chance of winning “more trophies” if the Uruguayan remains at Anfield.

Toure’s former club Arsenal have already failed in a £30m bid for the South American, while Real Madrid are also reportedly chasing the 26-year-old, who has made no secret of his desire to leave Merseyside.

The Ivory Coast international, who was officially unveiled at Liverpool’s training ground on Wednesday, reckons the Reds are heading in the right direction in terms of winning silverware and feels Suárez should stay at Anfield.

“Luis Suárez does not need to leave to fulfil his ambitions,” said Toure, according to The Guardian. “If he stays here he will have more chances to win trophies.

“This club is definitely prepared. The organisation, the mentality of the players and the staff. It’s amazing. It’s a top professional club. Luis is a great player, a fantastic player. He is a massive player for Liverpool.

“I have played against Suárez and he is a fantastic player, one you would want on your side, but in the end it will be up to the club to decide what they think is best for everybody.”

Suárez scored 23 Premier League goals last season, earning the striker a PFA player of the year nomination.
